A Charger for My Life

The Dukes of Hazzard is an American television series that aired on the CBS television network from 1979 to 1985.  The most iconic memory engrained in viewers minds was none other than “The General Lee.”  The Dodge Charger is an American automobile manufactured by the Dodge division of Chrysler. There have been several different Dodge vehicles, built on three different platforms and sizes, all bearing the Charger nameplate. The name is generally associated with a performance model in the Dodge range.  “The General Lee” was Bo and Luke Duke’s 1969 Dodge Charger. It was orange with a confederate battle flag painted on the roof. In the original five Georgia-filmed episodes, a Confederate flag along with a checkered racing flag in a criss-cross pattern could be seen behind the rear window; this was removed when it was felt that this extra detail did not show up enough on-screen enough to warrant the already very tight time constraints of preparing and repairing each example of the car.
